Nearly 90% of college students believe that job hunting benefits from career planning.

In August 2018, Xu Mo, a prospective senior majoring in accounting, made a decision — — Give up the postgraduate entrance examination and cross into the field of photography. After nearly three years in the school club, he has been dealing with photography and post-production, and many works produced during this period have also been widely praised. In Xu’s view, "photography" can bring him more motivation and happiness than "accounting". Out of this love, Xu Mo broke his original plan and redrawn his career blueprint.

"I think my current resume should enable me to find a good job." Hong Yue, who had a clear career plan early, was full of pride when she mentioned her resume. This good resume was obtained by Hong Yue from her freshman year by running presentations, participating in entrepreneurial competitions, pulling projects for enterprises, planning large-scale activities and other experiences. In these experiences, she finally decided to take the road of entrepreneurship.

Recently, the media of Zhongqing School launched a survey on college students’ career planning for more than 700 college students and graduates all over the country. The survey results showed that 22.92% of the respondents indicated that they had a clear career blueprint. 71.49% have a certain planning direction, but the plan is vague; 5.59% have no plans at all; More than 87% of the respondents agree that a clear career plan is helpful for college students to set goals and help job seekers to prepare for finding jobs in advance.

The job-hunting embarrassment of "cramming for the Buddha’s feet"

According to the survey, 87.18% of college students who don’t have a clear career plan think that unclear planning has an impact on job hunting. Among them, 46.15% think that their resumes are thin because they don’t prepare in advance, 61.54% find that they are confused when looking for a job, and 35.90% find that they don’t have the ability to meet the job requirements when looking for a job.

Both Li Bei from University of Shanghai for Science and Technology and Huang Muxin from a university in Anhui believe that there are not many friends with detailed career plans around them, and some students even buy resume templates temporarily and then "invest in the sea" resumes.

According to Liu Jia of a university in Jiangxi, the resumes of four people in their dormitory were all completed in two hours on the night before the campus job fair, searching for such terms as "How to write resumes to attract HR quickly" and "Matters needing attention in resume writing". "Put on a suit rented near the school and prepare a few words temporarily ‘ People can’t grasp the key points ’ Self-introduction, hurry to play. " Liu Jia recalled the embarrassment at that time, and couldn’t help laughing and saying, "Near the last few job fairs, I realized that the resume sent to HR online should be in PDF format, not WORD."

Tong Li, who majored in electrical industry and automation, was worried about "postgraduate entrance examination or work". In the end, he chose Bao Yan on the advice of counselors and tutors, and the future was temporarily "settled". He has never made a plan, and he often feels confused during this period of "making choices". "Those who are very interested in their major and have very high enthusiasm will naturally have goals. But if you are interested in this major like me, there will be no direction. " In order to determine the goal, Tong Li looked up a lot of information and even went to professional institutions and teachers to discuss it repeatedly. Postgraduate entrance examination or employment, giving priority to region or major, all kinds of problems constantly troubled him. During that time, Tong Li, who was "selected" and "tortured", went to the college to consult counselors and tutors.

"Your future still depends on yourself." Although Bao Yan’s decision has been made, he is still full of confusion about everything unknown in the future.

Just having a direction and a plan seems to be far from enough. CANDY, from a university of science and engineering in Liaoning Province, had a hard time choosing a job before graduation. Her major is often nicknamed "all-purpose oil" by students of the same major, which seems to be "everything can be done" and "nothing is right". In CANDY’s view, choosing a job is a "two-way multiple-choice question" after all, and candidates need planning and preparation.

Liu Jia mentioned that he once thought that career planning was a mere formality, and it didn’t matter whether he did it or not. When he was near graduation, he found the gap between himself and those students who had clear plans. "The most obvious difference is that when I was still dissatisfied with filling a large blank in my resume, others have already received four or five employment letters by using club experience, award-winning experience and internship experience, and they are still hot jobs." According to Liu Jia’s description, in fact, he also participated in many activities and had a lot of experience during his college years, but he never thought of combining these valuable "fragments" and turning them into his own advantages.

Career planning is the first "outline" before entering the society.

According to the survey, compared with junior students, the proportion of senior students who are about to find employment has a clear career plan is higher, with 19.04% in junior students and 33.71% in senior students. However, there are still many senior students whose career plans are vague, accounting for 63.43%, and those in junior grades account for 74.94%. 2.86% of the senior students still have no career goals at all, while 6.92% of the junior students.

Because of a student’s work assignment, Huang Muxin, who was still a sophomore at that time, chatted with a newly graduated school sister for a long time, and he first had the idea of "planning for the future". "When I heard her talking about her application path and the whereabouts of her classmates, my heart began to have ‘ Think carefully about how you should go in the future ’ The idea. " The "sense of crisis" brought by the employment or postgraduate entrance examination in the next two years makes Huang Muxin feel that "if there is no goal and general planning, then the efforts made now are likely to be in vain."

In Huang Muxin’s view, a complete career plan is equivalent to setting clear career goals for yourself, which can reduce the risk of "being blind and unable to start" when graduation is approaching, and the probability of missing your favorite position due to "ignorance" will be greatly reduced. Working hard in the direction that suits your interests according to your career plan will also improve your satisfaction with your future work and make it easier to realize your self-worth. "We can also look at ourselves in an all-round way through the process of improving our resumes, recognize our strengths and weaknesses, and find a position that suits our preferences and specialties."

Qiu Qiu, who graduated from a university in Liaoning, has always had a clear plan for his future. "Your future depends only on yourself. I didn’t ask my senior sister much, because if I ask my senior sister who took the postgraduate entrance examination, she will tell you the reasons for taking the postgraduate entrance examination. If I ask my senior sister who didn’t take the postgraduate entrance examination, she will tell you the reasons for not taking the postgraduate entrance examination. " The question of postgraduate entrance examination or employment didn’t bother Qiu Qiu at all. As a financial student, she thought that work experience was far more important than education, so she resolutely chose employment. This is because she has long had her own considerations. "If I don’t take the postgraduate entrance examination, I will have more practical experience than others. If I want to go to an enterprise or even take a management position in the future, I can re-examine and study for an MBA." It is understood that Qiu Qiu considered the issue of employment when she was a freshman. She spent the whole university time getting relevant certificates, participating in big innovation projects and various competitions, which made a page of resume heavy.

According to the results of the media survey conducted by Zhongqing School, 88.83% of the students who have a general career plan will have a clear learning direction and obtain relevant certificates after they have a career plan, 80.7% of the respondents will look for internship opportunities and get to know the industry situation in advance, and 58.65% of the respondents will choose to participate in competitions and other activities to improve their abilities and enrich their resumes.

Lin Xiao participated in the career planning and design competition as early as her freshman year, and her target occupation was a reporter. Bai Yansong has always been regarded as an idol, and she likes the expression of "hitting the pain point directly". To be an excellent reporter with both "interesting soul" and "noble personality" has always been the direction of Lin Xiao’s efforts. So as early as in high school, she regarded "reporter" as her ideal career. Until now, "going to the traditional media for employment" is still Lin Xiao’s firm goal that has never changed. Although not yet employed, Lin Xiao has used her vacation to practice in media units. "After determining the plan, you must seriously look for opportunities to practice. You will have some subversive cognition about yourself and discover your new abilities." Lin said with a smile.

"With planning, we will start to work hard." Huang Muxin revealed that he was already preparing for his future goals, and after making plans to study abroad, he set out to prepare for the IELTS test as soon as he was a junior.

Perfect planning, or "firm choice" or "brave trial and error"

"It’s interesting to say. I think my career has been quite smooth." Today, Qiu Qiu is an employee of a state-owned enterprise in Dalian that ranks first in the industry.

Before taking up the present job, Qiu Qiu could not be tempted by seemingly rich conditions such as "good salary" or "good company environment". As long as he did not want to choose a position, Qiu Qiu refused. The reason why the interview process has been smooth, in her opinion, is related to her clear goals from beginning to end. When looking for her current job, she only interviewed for one round, and the employer had already signed the contract, and the position was settled on the spot. Her entire job search career has been "smooth" according to her original goal.

According to a survey conducted by the media of Zhongqing School, 64.88% of the respondents believe that a complete career plan can bring opportunities for college students to "try and make mistakes in advance and adjust their goals in time".

With the attitude of giving it a try, Li Bei participated in a variety show about games under the introduction of a friend. This accidental attempt has given him a rough outline of his vague career blueprint. There is a school team set up spontaneously by students in the school. In this team, which is basically a champion at the expense of competition, Li Bei has been the captain all the way from the players. Although he is a journalism major, Li Bei admits that he is not looking forward to working in the media in the future. In his view, it is much more interesting if hobbies can be turned into careers than sticking to the rules of professional counterparts. "In fact, I also tried to work in the propaganda department of the enterprise. Because I didn’t plan before, I was quite happy when I first got the internship opportunity, but later I gradually found that the work content was not very suitable for me."

From anticipation to gradual loss of enthusiasm, Li Bei often recalls the days when she participated in variety shows and competitions in this "trial and error". After receiving the invitation of the second season variety show, a budding career plan was quietly finalized in his heart. Unlike most young people who take games as a pastime, Li Bei clearly recognized the pressure he had to deal with from the moment he decided to take this as a career. In the face of boring and repetitive exercises and others’ incomprehension, he was very calm. "It was a waste of time before, but since I knew what I wanted to do, it was much easier. Let me become better and work hard to move forward."

CANDY, who also had the experience of "trial and error", made clear his career plan for the first time during an internship in a foreign company. "Personnel, which is civilian but not purely civilian, makes me feel quite exercisable, so I just want to develop in this area." The five-month internship has given her a general understanding of the direction of her work, and the fog between her and the future has also been pushed aside a little.

Before that, she had used the winter vacation as an internship, and also worked as a volunteer in science and technology hall, but in her opinion, it was not satisfactory. After several "trial and error", CANDY kept asking for advice before formally looking for a job. For example, carefully ask seniors and seniors about their initial work experience, mental journey and interview experience, so as to have a clear direction and plan. "Constantly try and make mistakes and constantly adjust your goal direction." This is one of the suggestions that Senior Sister gave her. "We will all experience a period of confusion in our careers, as long as we clearly know what we are suitable for and then work hard in this direction."
